New Zealand PM supermarket stabbing was a supporter of the Islamic State (IS)

After a man who is said to have been a supporter of the Islamic state (IS),  stabbed and wounded at six people in an Auckland supermarket. Police in New Zealand shot and killed the “violent extremist” minutes after the incident.

The man who has been identified is said to be a person who had come to New Zealand in 2011 from an Asia country and have been under surveillance since 2016 for being a supporter of the Islamic state and following its ideology , said in a report. men while bbc news said that the  Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has stated that the incident was a “terrorist attack” carried out by an south Asian  national who was under police surveillance.

The man, who has not been identified, was a supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, Ms Ardern said.

“What happened today was despicable, it was hateful it was wrong,” Ms Ardern said in a news conference. “It was carried out by an individual, not a faith.”

It has been reveled that the out of the six wounded people,  one is in a serious condition,wh8lst three are in a critical condition.

 It took place at the Countdown supermarket at LynnMall in the district of New Lynn on this afternoon ( Friday afternoon).

The attacker according to the BBC News report has taken a large knife from a display cabinet in the store and went on a stabbing spree. Police surveillance teams had been close by the entire time.

One witness told news outlet Stuff NZ that the supermarket was a scene of hysteria, and footage shared online showed people fleeing before the sound of gun shots could be heard.
