Hon. Suzuki Shunichi, Minister of Finance of Japan, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka, met the Speaker, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana today (12) in Parliament.
The Secretary General of the Parliament Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera and the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mr. Mizukoshi Hideaki were also in attendance at this meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister of Finance stated that Japan and Sri Lanka have a long-standing friendship and that Japan is working to provide support for Sri Lanka’s economic stabilization. Furthermore, the developments of friendship between the two countries were discussed.
Furthermore, the speaker Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana expressed his gratitude for Japan’s support towards Sri Lanka and added that he hopes for Japan’s support in the future.
Meanwhile, Hon. Suzuki Shunichi met with the opposition leader Hon. Sajith Premadasa and a group of Parliamentarians representing the opposition and engaged in a discussion.
