Chamara Silva’s ton steers Vintage CC to a comfortable win.

Chamara Silva’s ton steered Vintage CC to beat Old Mahindians by 93 runs in a Masters 30 overs Cricket encounter played at the Milleniya grounds,  Horana recently.

Vintage CC batting first,  lost their first wicket at 11 runs on board,  Chamara Silva joining the other opener Saman Jayantha, the pair together added a valuable 69 runs for the second wicket and with the dismissal of Saman Jayantha, Sanjeewa Silva joining Chamara Silva got the score board ticking with a solid 109 runs partnership for the third wicket and the fall of these two batters with Sanjeewa Silva stroking a fine half century and Chamara Silva playing an entertaining knock stroking a glorious century and a useful contribution of 22 runs coming from the bat of Chamil Perera took them to a commanding position. Asela Wewalwala capturing 3 scalps and Umega Chaturanga capturing 2 scalps were the pick of the bowlers.

Old Mahindians chasing this total,  lost an early wicket at 4 runs on board and the other wickets falling at regular intervals with batters Yosada Lanka,  Hirantha Wijesinghe, Asela Wewalwala,  C.K.Hewamanna  and Umega Chaturanga getting into double figures and their useful contributions were unable to take them closer to the target of the tidy line and length bowling of Renuka Nonis,  Brigesh Jeganathan and Suwanji Madanayake claiming 2 scalps each and well supported by Roshan Jaymon,  Anusha Perera and Chamil Perera capturing 1 wicket each, restricted them to a less than 200 plus mark.
