The Value Added Tax (Amendment) and Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bills were passed in Parliament with a majority and with amendments last Friday. (09).

The Second Reading debate of the said Bills were held today (09) throughout the day and the Opposition called for a division for the Second Reading of the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill. Accordingly, 82 votes were cast in favor of the Bill and 52 votes were cast against.

A division was called for the Third Reading of the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill by the Opposition to which 82 votes were cast in favor of the Bill and 41 votes were cast against.

A division was called for the Second Reading of the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill by the opposition. Accordingly, 83 votes were cast in favor of the Bill and 41 votes were cast against.

A division was called for the Third Reading of the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill by the Opposition to which 79 votes were cast in favor of the Bill and 36 votes were cast against.

Accordingly, the two Bills were passed in Parliament with a majority and with amendments.
