Maj. Gen. Channa Weerasuriya, the present Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army received the letter of appointment as the 61st Chief of Staff of the Army from Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, at the Commander’s office, yesterday (Nov 29).
During his military career of 36 years, Maj. Gen. Weerasuriya has held a number of key appointments in the Army including the office of Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
He is also the Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Light Infantry and Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
