08 September 2021: DFCC Bank, the pioneer in commercial banking, has extended further support to delivery vendors by facilitating the acceptance of digital payments, through platforms such as LankaQR and VisaQR at Remarko Bakers Mobile Outlets. This is aligned with the Bank’s digital transformation drive, and its decision to move away from cash transactions and to place more focus on digital payment acceptance mechanisms towards ensuring greater customer satisfaction and safety.
The prime objective of the move is to ensure a secure, efficient payment mechanism that enhances the safety of transactions, and removes the need for physical cash transactions, an activity that carries great risk due to the ease of spread of Covid-19. Instead the onus is placed on contactless electronic transactions, with digital confirmations to both the merchant and customer, thereby reducing the costs and hassle of needing to handle cash. The speed and efficiency of the digital transactions is also of significant importance when compared to manual transactions, with automated, easy-to-access being benefits received by both customers and merchants alike. This benefits the entire public, as any customer with a local bank current and/or savings account can use their bank-of-choice’s app to make payments by simply scanning the QR code. The move stands to enhance the productivity and profitability of businesses, while aligning with the national efforts to conduct business while following all necessary health and safety protocols.
One such avenue is the enablement of QR-based payments at Remarko Bakers Mobile Outlets. Remarko Bakers is an authentic retail bakery chain with 40 years of tradition behind them starting in 1983. Presently operating in Gampaha, Colombo and Nuwara Eliya regions. Its newest addition in expanding their reach is with mobile delivery units delivering their bakery goods from door to door. Adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines to maximize the safety of their customers Remarko Bakers partnered with DFCC Bank to provide contactless payment opportunities to their customers.

Any interested vendor can obtain this facility from DFCC Bank by simply opening a DFCC Bank account at a branch of their choice, through which payments will be directed. The DFCC Pay merchant App will be set up to accept both LankaQR and VisaQR for all payments and service-related transactions.
Customers that hold DFCC Bank Accounts, other local bank accounts and DFCC Credit Cards can download the DFCC Pay App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to make use of QR based transactions. The DFCC Pay app enables users to make both LankaQR and VisaQR payments locally, and VisaQR payments overseas.
