Gazette notifications declaring maximum retail price for rice and sugar

Two gazette notifications have been issued declaring maximum retail prices for rice and sugar.

Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority, Retired Major General Shantha Dissanayake had issued the relevant gazette notifications with effect from September 2.

Accordingly, the maximum wholesale price of a kilo of white sugar is 116 rupees and the maximum retail price of a kilo of white sugar is 122 rupees.

The maximum retail price of a kilo of packaged white sugar is 125 rupees.

The maximum retail price of a kilo of brown or red sugar is 125 rupees and the maximum retail price of a kilo of packaged brown or red sugar is 128 rupees.

Meanwhile, a kilo of white and red raw samba is priced at Rs. 95, a kilo of white and red nadu is priced at Rs. 98 and a kilo of white and red raw samba is priced at Rs. 103.

A maximum retail price of 125 rupees has been set for a kilo of Keeri Samba.
