SLAF is ready to support disaster management in adverse weather conditions

Based on the findings of the Meteorology department, adverse weather conditions may  prevail in the next 48hrs due to depression conditions that has taken place in Bay of Bengal. As the adverse weather conditions can have situations of landslides and floods in the country, The Sri Lanka Air Force has intimated its preparedness to assist the general public in such situations.

The Air Force No 3 maritime squadron has been standby with its Beach craft (king Air 200) and relevant specially trained Air Force Commandoes ( SABF – Special Air Bourne Force) troops in support of the general public who may need help in adverse conditions. Such have been made available at SLAF bases China Bay and Ratmalana according to our sources. Further the Air Force sources have stated that they have positioned bell 412, 212 and MI 17 Helicopters at SLAF Hingurakgoda, Palaly, Anuradhapura and at Ratmalana to cater such situations that may occur as a result of adverse weather conditions predicted.
