A Corporate Social Responsibility programme organized by the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) in collaboration with SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit was held yesterday (13 June 2022) at Seeduwa Vocational Training Center Seeduwa with the assistance of Medical and Dental professionals of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force to mark the Poson Poya day. The Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by Directors of Health Services in Sri Lanka Army, Brigadier (Dr.) Chrishantha Fernando, Sri Lanka Navy, Commodore (Dr.) Janaka Marambage, Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera and spouses of the Air Force Board of Management.
The main event of the Corporate Social Responsibility project was Medical, Dental, Eye, Low Vision, Psychiatric and Nutritional Clinic for around 300 differently abled personnel and their care givers. It was also made glamour with “Poson Bathi Gee” program performed by the SLAF Oriental Band and extended generosity by distributing dry ration packs amongst more than 100 deserving families of Sunrise Foundation Chilaw and Seeduwa Welfare Society of Blind. Prior to the main event, ‘Shramadana’ programmes were carried out by service personnel of Sri Lanka Air Force and Sri Lanka Navy who cleared premises and created a vegetable garden for inmates. The renovation and colour washing of the main auditorium and “Budu madura” were done by the Civil Engineering Wing of SLAF Base Katunayake. A Reverse Osmosis plant was installed with the donations by well-wishers to provide clean drinking water for the inmates.
The Project was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Commander of Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Director Health Services, Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera. The entire meritorious programme was a brainchild of the President Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine, Air Commodore (Dr.) Niluka Abeysekara. The tremendous support was lent by Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake, Air Commodore Lasitha Sumanaweera and overlooked by Group Captain HPAS Hewawasam for the success of the event. Numerous well-wishers contributed in various ways to make fruitful of this endeavor.
