The Exporters’ Association of Sri Lanka(EASL), which is an Approved Association of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce held its 26th Annual General Meeting at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce auditorium recently, with the Chairman of the Export Development Board, Dr. Kingsley Bernard in attendance as the Chief Guest.
The AGM saw the election of a new Executive Committee for the year 2023-2024 with Mr. Ranil Goonetilleke Director, Finance – Lion Brewery PLC as the Chairman, Ms. Rozanne De Almeida- Head of Trade and Financial Institutions – Hatton National Bank and Mr. Yohan Lawrence – Consultant, Nidro Supply (pvt) Ltd., as 1st and 2nd Vice Chairpersons respectively.
The newly elected Chairman, Mr. Ranil Goonetilleke (Director, Finance – Lion Brewery PLC) stressed the pressing need for innovative marketing approaches, a steadfast focus on product quality, and a relentless pursuit of global competitiveness, in order to survive and thrive amidst the challenges of trade barriers, escalating costs, geopolitical uncertainties, etc.
Underlining the pivotal role played by the Exporters’ Association in collectively addressing impediments, the Chairman highlighted the importance of seeking new opportunities and advocating for a more exporter-friendly environment. He also encouraged active participation from the Membership to work collectively towards the growth of the country’s export potential.
