Acting Defence Minister Hon Premitha Bandara Tennakoon attended the final day proceedings of the National Industrial Exhibition at the BMICH today (June 25).

Minister Tennakoon visited the stalls of Tri Forces and related institutions and commended their participation and effort. This is the final day of the 4 day ‘Industry 2023’ exhibition.

Organized by the Ministry of Industry and the Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board with the aim of creating a local industrial culture, the mega exhibition commenced on the 25th (June) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. For the first time in history, representing 21 industries about 750 participants had setup stalls at exhibition.

Speaking at the event Minister Tennakoon said that during the thirty-two years of war to regain peace, we were not able manufacture any ammunition required for the war in our country, but now we have started the production of ammunition required for the security forces since last year. The Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps is carrying out modernization and value addition of vehicles to suit the needs of the defence sector, thereby saving a large amount of foreign exchange, he said.

He stressed the need for positive change in the thoughts and attitudes of today’s younger generation.

Many dignitaries including Ministers, senior state officials and guests were present the occasion.
