State Minister Hon. Tharaka Balasuriya was unanimously elected as the chairman of the Committee on Economic Stabilization, at its first meeting held today (27) in the Parliament. His name was proposed by State Minister Hon. Shehan Semasinghe and seconded by MP Hon. M. Rameswaran.
The functions of this committee include examining the performance, financial stability, investment management and opportunities for public private partnership of state-owned enterprises.
The future work of the committee was discussed at the meeting in such a way that the scopes of other financial committees such as the Committee on Public Enterprises do not conflict with each other. Accordingly, the Chairman of the committee stated that he is expected to meet the Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises and discuss this matter.
State Minister Hon. Shehan Semasinghe, Members of Parliament Hon. M. Rameswaran, Hon. Varuna Liyanage and Hon. (Dr.) Nalaka Godaheva participated at the meeting.
Director Legislative Services and Director Communications (Acting) of Parliament Mr. Janakantha Silva also participated in this meeting.
