The announcements by the Hon. Speaker to the House today (25) were presented by the Deputy Speaker Hon. Ajith Rajapakse.
Accordingly, the the Deputy Speaker Hon. Ajith Rajapakse on behalf of the Hon. Speaker announced that the Speaker has received a copy of the petition filed at the Supreme Court under Article 121(1) of the Constitution in respect of the Private Members’ Bill entitled “Penal Code (Amendment)”.
Moreover, it was announced that the motion may be moved to refer the question of privilege raised by Hon. Shehan Semasinghe, in Parliament on 10th March 2023 to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Furthermore, it was announced to the House that Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan, Hon. Weerasumana Weerasinghe have been nominated to serve in the Committee on Public Accounts by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancies occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam, and the Hon. Hesha Withanage, from the Membership of the said Committee.
It was also announced that Hon. (Prof.) G. L. Peiris, has been nominated to serve in the Committee on Parliamentary Business by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of the Hon. (Ms.) Thalatha Athukorala from the Membership of the said Committee.
Hon. Kanaka Herath, Hon. S. M. Chandrasena, and Hon. M. Rameshwaran, have been nominated to serve in the Committee on Economic Stabilization by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancies occurred due to the resignation of the Hon. (Ms.) Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi, Hon. Harin Fernando, and Hon. Jeevan Thondaman, from the Membership of the said Committee.
The Deputy Speaker further announced that Hon. Anuradha Jayaratne, has been nominated to serve in the Committee on Ways and Means by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Nimal Siripala de Silva, from the Membership of the said Committee.
Hon. Velu Kumar, has been nominated to serve in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Religious Affairs and Co-existence by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. M. Udayakumar, from the Membership of the said Committee.
Furthermore, Hon. M. Rameshwaran has been nominated to serve in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Alleviating the Impact of the Economic Crisis by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Jeevan Thondaman, from the Membership of the said Committee.
Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake, has been nominated to serve in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Health by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. (Dr.) Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, from the Membership of the said Committee.
It was also announced to the House that Hon. (Dr.) Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, has been nominated to serve in the Sectoral Oversight Committee on International Relations by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake, from the Membership of the said Committee.
Hon. Weerasumana Weerasinghe, has been nominated to serve in the Committee Public Petitions by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Mohomad Muzammil from the Membership of the said Committee.
Hon. Hesha Withanage, has been nominated to serve in the Committee on Public Enterprises by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancy occurred due to the resignation of Hon. (Ms.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna, from the Membership of the said Committee.
The Deputy Speaker further announced that Hon. (Dr.) Major Pradeep Undugoda, and Hon. (Ms.) Kokila Gunawardene, have been nominated to serve in the Committee on Public Finance by the Committee of Selection on 04th April 2023, in terms of the provisions of the Standing Order 130(3) of the Parliament, to fill the vacancies occurred due to the resignation of Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, and Hon. Nalin Fernando, from the Membership of the said Committee.
