Sri Lanka Navy’s (SLN) Directorate of Dental Services organized a familiarization programme for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Dental Sciences of the Sri Jayewardenepura University (USJ) following the approval of the Defence Ministry, at the Navy General Hospital (NGH) in Colombo, recently.
The SLN said this was initiated as part of an agreement to share laboratory and clinical resources of the Navy Hospital for the training of USJ undergraduates of the newly established Faculty of Dental Sciences.
According to the SLN, this is a result of the request made by the Dean, Faculty of the Dental Sciences from the SLN to share their available resources for the benefit of undergraduates, considering the extent of funds required to acquire such a facility.
The familiarization programme was successfully conducted under the directives of the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne with the participation of 32 undergraduates including two officer cadets from the Faculty of Dental Sciences of USJ, the SLN added.
