Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union arrives in Sri Lanka

Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) arrived in the island yesterday (11).  The visit of the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union has been organized according to an invitation extended by the President Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe when he was the Prime Minister. Accordingly, Mr. Martin Chungong, was received by Hon. Angajan Ramanathan, the Deputy Chairperson of Committees, and Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake, the Secretary General of the Parliament, at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

During this official visit, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mr. Martin Chungong, will meet with the President, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the Prime MinisterHon. Dinesh Gunawardena. Furthermore, Mr. Martin Chungong is scheduled to meet the Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

After that, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union is also scheduled to meet the Leader of the House Hon. (Dr.) Susil Premajayantha and the Leader of the Opposition Hon. Sajith Premadasa, the Secretary General said.
