On 4th August 2022, the Korean Embassy, in cooperation with the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation, organized the Awards ceremony of the 2022 Korean Ambassador’s Cup at the at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium.
Korean Ambassador H.E. Santhush Woonjin JEONG and Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Roshan Ransinghe attended the Ceremony and presented the winners with awards for their outstanding performance in the Championship.
Also, President of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation Mr. Chaminda Punchihewa, Vice President of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation Mr. Kanchana Jayarathna, Secretary to Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Dr. Amal Harsha de Silva, Kukkiwon Dispatch Taekwondo Master Mr. Kisu Lee and Embassy Secretary Mr. Jung Haesung attended the Awards Ceremony.
Korean Ambassador Santhush expressed his delight on the outstanding Taekwondo performances delivered by the Sri Lankan athletes during the tournament.
“It is amazing to witness the enthusiasm by Sri Lankan youth for Taekwondo. The wonderful demonstration of all Sri Lankan athletes including Taekwondo lovers has contributed to receiving awards from international tournaments like the South Asian Games. I strongly believe that Taekwondo in Sri Lanka has huge potentials and more to achieve. Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka will continue to make every effort to support for further development of Sri Lankan Taekwondo. You are all precious assets to foster stronger relations between our countries. I hope you achieve the highest awards for Taekwondo and bring pride to Sri Lanka,” he said.
Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Roshan Ransinghe congratulated all athletes who performed well in this tournament. “The future of taekwondo sport in Sri Lanka is clear. A talented board of officers has been appointed to oversee all activities. Looking at today’s performances we realize that Taekwondo will bring fame to the country with talented athletes who will win many medals. Congratulations to all of you who won the trophies and medals in this year’s Korean Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship Awards,” he noted.
