Prabath Jayasuriya, playing in his  debut created history by finishing with 6 wickets for 118 runs to record the second-best figures by a Sri Lankan on Test debut. It was creating history from the word go at this test as Sri Lanka had three players who took the field for the first time in a Test with Kamindu Mendis and Mahesh Teekshana joining Prabath Jayasundara. This has been due to a void that was created due to 3 players being contracted with Covid 19.

Sri Lanka are 184 for 2 wickets with Kusal Mendis unbeaten with 84 chasing 364 made by Australia. Captain Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Mendis built a stand of 152 which is recorded as, Sri Lanka’s highest second-wicket partnership against Australia, before Karunaratne was out shirt of 14 runs of a norther century. If Kusal Mendis can make another 16 runs, it will bring his 2nd test century against Australia.

Yesterday we saw Australia’s  Smith making an unbeaten 145 and Labuschagne 104 in their total of 364.
