ILO assisting Sri Lanka to resolve problems – Country Director

International Labour Organization (ILO) Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Simrin Singh met Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at his office in Colombo on Friday.

During the meeting the ILO Country Director said that the ILO is assisting Sri Lanka to resolve its problems and minimise issues that lead to strikes.

She stressed the importance of paying more attention to nutrition during the food crisis, by focusing on animal husbandry and the fisheries industry.

Minister Gunawardena said that the advice provided by the ILO for various sectors in Sri Lanka cannot be valued in rupees.

The Minister called upon the ILO Country Director to pay more attention to providing training opportunities for Sri Lankans in the public service and for foreign employment in the health, nursing, and care-giving sectors.
