Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said the Covid-19 pandemic was the main reason for the country’s economic crisis and that the country could recover from it in the next few months if it could continue without locking the country down.

He said if the country has to close again, the current crisis could aggravate.

“Dollar crunch is the prime reason for many of the crises the country has suffered today. The actual reason for the problems such as gas shortage, fuel and electricity.  The government had to bear a huge cost to control the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said at a  meeting in Udugampola.
