The Minister of Trade, Dr. Bandula Gunawardena states that measures will be taken to provide 50 consumer items at prices below the market prices through Sathosa outlets for the festive season.
The state retail network outlets Sathosa (CWE) and Lak Sathosa will start offering discounted prices for consumer goods during the festive season from tomorrow, the Minister said.
Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo, Minister Gunawardena said the public can get a kilo of Nadu rice for Rs. 99.50 and a kilo of Samba rice for Rs. 130.00. He added that another 50 essential items will be sold by Sathosa and Lak Sathosa below the prevailing market prices.
The Minister said that necessary arrangements have been made to provide essential commodities to the people at concessionary prices through the CWE without any shortage.
