Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday, October 27, appreciated the continued support of the People’s Republic of China at a meeting with the Ambassador of the PRC to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong. The meeting took place at Temple Trees.
PM Rajapaksa thanked the Chinese government for supporting Sri Lanka in the fight against COVID- 19 by providing vaccines.
Ambassador Zhenhong congratulated Sri Lanka on the successful vaccination drive and assured that the PRC would continue to support Sri Lanka.
The Ambassador added that the Bilateral Currency Swap Agreement of CNY 10 billion between the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), would help boost global investor confidence in the Sri Lankan economy.
Ambassador Zhenhong said 2022 will mark the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Rubber-Rice Pact.
