Colombo Stock market a record braking performance in August

A record braking performance of Colombo Stock Exchange, as an annual market turnover has been achieved gaining a value of Rs 650 Billion as at Aug 31st. The market has also further recorded the highest daily average turnover of Rs 4.2 Billion. It has also been revealed that the previous highest had been reported in 2010 which was Rs 570 Billion,  which means, despite of the setbacks due to the pandemic CSE has shown an increase of Rs 88 Billion than the previous highest reported eleven years back.

Benchmark all share price index ( ASP) maintained an upward trend with the overall market capitalization of the CSE grown high in the past month reaching the highest we have recorded so far, which is testimony to a positive market performance. Within the month of August the market capitalization was Rs 411 Billion ending at Rs 4,009 Billion.

Sri Lanka stock market has concluded in a positive note in the month of August, despite the pandemic scenario in the country and it’s encouraging to see record braking performances.
