Sri Lanka stocks close 0.33 per cent higher

Sri Lanka stocks closed 0.33 per cent higher on Wednesday pushed up by Browns Investments, John Keells Holdings and LOLC Holdings, brokers said.

The Colombo benchmark All Share Price Index gained 25.88 points to close at 7,939.35.

The S&P SL20 index of more liquid stocks gained 0.33 per cent or 9.90 points to close at 3,012.17.

Turnover was 2.05 billion rupees with 126 stocks gaining and 63 falling.

LOLC Holdings gained 3.50 rupees to close at 418.25 rupees while LOLC Development Finance closed 14.50 rupees down at 491.50 rupees a share.

LOLC Finance closed 10 cents up at 6.90 rupees, Browns Investment closed 20 cents up at 6.30 rupees a share and Brown and Company fell 1.50 rupees to close at 175.00 rupees a share.

John Keells Holdings closed 1.50 rupees up at 136.50 rupees a share and Vallibel one closed 20 cents up at 53.90 rupees a share.

Carson Cumberbatch closed 10.75 rupees down at 295.25 rupees and Expolanka Holdings closed 20 cents up at 52.90 rupees a share.

Hayleys Plc closed 80 cents down at 77.80 rupees with key subsidiaries Haycarb Plc closed 30 cents up at 97.00 rupees and Dipped Products gained 10 cents to close at 54.10 rupees.

The Kingsbury closed flat at 7.60 and Singer Sri Lanka closed 10 cents up at 18.10 rupees.

Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC closed 4.00 down at 966.00 rupees, Piramal Glass Ceylon closed 30 cents down at 13.40 rupees and Ceylon Cold Stores closed 7.00 rupees up at 667.00 rupees.

Sri Lanka Telecom closed 50 cents up at 33.40 rupees, Richard Pieris and Company closed flat at 17.00 rupees.

Dialog Axiata closed flat at 12.20 rupees, Nestle Lanka closed 13.75 rupees up at 1,303.75 rupees and Kotmale Holdings closed 29.00 rupees up at 449.75 rupees a share.

Commercial Leasing and Finance PLC closed flat at 7.50 rupees a share and Dialog Finance Plc closed 50 cents up at 83.00 rupees a share.

Housing Development Finance closed 10 cents up at 36.20 rupees while Central Finance Company closed flat at 89.70 rupees.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon closed 20 cents up at 87.10 rupees.

Hatton National Bank closed 1.25 rupees up at 134.00 rupees a share and Sampath Bank closed 40 cents up at 52.90 rupees a share.

DFCC Bank closed 10 cents down at 60.60 rupees and Nations Trust Bank closed 2.50 rupees up at 59.00 rupees.

Seylan Bank closed 50 cents down at 48.50 rupees and Pan Asia Banking Corporation closed flat at 16.20 rupees.

Bukit Darah closed 2.75 rupees down at 302.00 rupees and Hemas Holdings closed 1.00 rupee up at 80.80 rupees.

Ceylon Grain Elevators closed 50 cents down at 141.00 rupees.

Distilleries Company closed 10 cents up at 19.40 rupees a share and Melstacorp Plc closed flat at 48.20 rupees.

In the hotel sector, Eden Hotel Lanka closed 70 cents up at 13.40 rupees, John Keells Hotels closed 60 cents up at 11.00 rupees a share and Aitken Spence Hotel Holdings closed 50 cents up at 31.80 rupees.

Access Engineering closed 10 cents down at 23.20 rupees.

Aitken Spence Plc closed 40 cents up at 61.90 rupees.

Windforce Closed 10 cents down at 18.90 rupees, Chrissworld limited closed 10 cents down at 13.30 rupees and Prime Land Residencies closed flat at 9.70 rupees.

Royal Ceramic Lanka closed 40 cents down at 37.00 rupees, Lanka Tiles closed 20 cents down at 54.30 rupees, Lanka Walltiles closed 40 cents down at 65.00 rupees while Lanka ceramic closed flat at 157.00 rupees.

The Food, Beverage and Tobacco Industry was the most active and gained 0.4 per cent.
