If the people were able to stay at home amidst the existing traffic restrictions, it will be possible to open the country in some way after June 14, Police Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said the decision to reopen the country is in the hands of the people and the people should abide by the quarantine regulations and provide maximum assistance to the health sector.

He also urged people not to leave the house for any reason other than essential work.

Meanwhile, a total of 975 persons have been arrested on June 4 for violating the quarantine rules.

The spokesman said that during vehicle inspections at 14 entry and exit points in the Western Province, a total of 59,280 vehicles have entered Colombo.
