It has been decided to treat people who do not show symptoms of COVID-19 coronavirus even though they have been identified as infected by the PCR test at their homes.

State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle said the process of keeping and monitoring the asymptomatic Covid infected persons in their homes will commence from next Monday, May 17.

She said the asymptomatic persons who stay at home will be referred to the hospitals if they develop any complications.

The decision to monitor the asymptomatic persons at their homes has been taken to provide hospital facilities to those who show symptoms as some people who are currently admitted to hospitals or treatment centers with positive PCR tests do not show any symptoms.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination program for people in the Western Province was carried out yesterday in 59 areas.
