President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said the government would face the Geneva issue without any fear, claiming that Sri Lanka is an independent country.

He said this while participating in the ‘Gama Samaga Pilisndara’, programme in Pitabeddara in Matara yesterday, March 27.

He said Sri Lanka would not fall prey to the power struggle in the Indian Ocean.

The President also said national security of the country was put into risk due to the ignorant actions of the previous regime and added that the Easter Sunday attack was a result of that.

“War heroes were jailed on false allegations. Sovereignty of the country was put into risk by co-sponsoring the Geneva resolution,” he also said.
