The Ceylon Chamber Hosts Exclusive Evening with Diplomats

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted a distinguished gathering of diplomats and business leaders at ‘An Evening with Diplomats’ on 10th March at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo. The event, attended by a high-profile audience, provided a unique platform for the private sector to network and explore new business opportunities in an increasingly globalised economy.

The Chief Guest for the evening was the Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism. Also present at the event was Hon. Arun Premachandra –  Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, High Commissioners, Ambassadors, senior representatives of the Export Development Board and Board of Investment, and representatives from the private sector.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Herath emphasised the important role of diplomatic engagement in advancing Sri Lanka’s economic interests, stating, ‘Your presence here today signals your keen intent in supporting Sri Lanka’s economic recovery by linking with the private sector who are here to expand their trade and investment portfolios. The focus of our Government in on three main priorities, namely poverty reduction, digitalisation and clean Sri Lanka. For all three to be successfully implemented we need the support of our foreign embassies here today to participate with the Government of Sri Lanka’.

Chairman of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Mr. Duminda Hulangamuwa remarked ‘this event falls within the remit of our engagement and market access pillar. We are keen on ensuring the most opportunities for our Members to find avenues to expand their business, and expand their export portfolio’. The evening’s discussions covered key areas such as trade facilitation, investment opportunities, and economic cooperation, with an emphasis on strengthening Sri Lanka’s global business footprint.

With a strong history of supporting economic growth and international trade, the event aligned with the Ceylon Chamber’s commitment to facilitating business expansion and foreign trade by fostering connections between the diplomatic community and private sector leaders.
