Kavita Thulasidas, the creative and managing director of Stylemart Singapore, who wowed Colombo with her stunning creations at her unforgettable show Threads of Time, once again mesmerised Colombo audiences with her fabulous yet wearable creations at the Lady Hilton High Tea and Fashion Show that was held on 13th February.
While choreography was by Brian Kerkoven with models also being provided by him, hair and make up were by none other than Ramani Fernando and her talented stylists, with Ashok Ferrey compering the evening in his own inimitable style, charming all those present. Host hotel Hilton Colombo, proved that hospitality was indeed their forte, with a superlative tea buffet and service to match.
“I am delighted to be back in Sri Lanka and look forward to a better time for all of us. Singapore is doing well and fashion is very much at the forefront since life has more or less returned to normal”, said Kavita.
Soft georgetts and chiffon drapes, flared pants with capes, highlighted with miniature mirror embroidery and thread work, in both bright as well as pastel colours were on the ramp, while yet another collection in a combination of floral prints in organza combined with georgette, Anarkalis, Lenghas, and of course saris, delighted all those present.
A third collection of florals in soft pastel hues created very specially with Valentines day in mind, as well as a series of outfits in deep reds and fuschia pinks, also in keeping with Valentines day, made the show a truly memorable one.
“The silhouettes this season have a soft diffused look which combine ethnic prints and embroideries with western silhouettes such as jump suits and long, dreamy dresses. All in all there is something for everyone”, said Kavita.
Anita Dorai who is also from Singapore and has a long association with Kavita, said she looked forward to many more events and shows now that Covid was on the wane.
“I hope to bring down some exciting acts and assure our audiences here that they have a lot to look forward to by way of international entertainment”, said Anita.
Kavita and her Sri Lankan partner Anita Dorai, thanked Gigi and the Hilton team who went to great pains to ensure the success of the evening, which was followed of course by the sale of garments, both at the hotel and at ‘Kavita Thulasidas’, L 2 – 44 One Galle Face Mall, from the 14th right upto 17th February.
A total of 60 outfits were showcased and Colombo’s fashion elite were certainly not disappointed!
