Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Afghanistan, Admiral Piyal De Silva, visited the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Afghanistan May 24, 2021 to deliver a presentation to educate businessmen, businesswomen, and entrepreneurs on potential trade opportunities between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
The Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, Hujatullah Fazli along with some of the Board Directors of ICC warmly welcomed the Ambassador and discussed the matters pertaining to expansion of bilateral trade cooperation between the two countries.
Whilst delivering the Power Point Presentation, the Ambassador emphasized the National Export Strategy of Sri Lanka and the potential sectors available for import and export, particularly benefiting Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) of both countries.
He elaborated the quality of Ceylon Tea, Cinnamon and Spices against the low-quality products being used in the Afghan market by displaying the samples.
The presentation included the production of apparel, tyres, rubber related items, electrical cables, electrical fittings, and bicycles which could have a place in the Afghan Market, and Afghan products such as dried fruits & nuts, carpets, saffron, emerald, and talc which could have a place in the Sri Lankan Market.
In the end, the Ambassador thanked the board of the International Chamber of Commerce in Afghanistan and all the participants from the business community.
