Chief of Defence Staff, Army Commander and Head, National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), General Shavendra Silva announced that several Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya and Batticaloa Districts have been designated as isolated areas with effect from 8.15 a.m. yesterday, May 3.
Accordingly, Uggalla Grama Niladhari Division in Padukka in the Colombo District, Pinwatta, Inwatta West, Narampitiya GN divisions in Panadura South Police area and the Bandaragama East GN division in the Bandaragama Police Division in the Kalutara District have been isolated with effect from yesterday.
He said Alwis Watta area in Wattala in the Gampaha district, Thisaweerasingham Squire Grama Niladhari Division in the Batticaloa District and Rathmetiya GN Division in the Hanguranketha Police area have been isolated with effect since yesterday morning.
General Shavendra Silva said that the isolation status that had been in effect in the Piliyandala Police area with effect from Sunday evening has been removed from 5 a.m. yesterday morning and eight Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Piliyandala Police area have been designated as isolated areas.
Piliyandala Police Area: Dampe, Batakettara North, Palanwatta West, Kesbewa South Makandana, Mawiththara North, Madapatha GN Divisions. In addition to the above Grama Niladhari Divisions, the Gorakapitiya and Nampamuna Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Piliyandala Police Division, which were previously placed in isolation, will remain isolated.
The Arawwala North Grama Niladhari Division in the Maharagama Police Division was also designated as an isolated area with effect from yesterday.
