The 17th Air Force Open Professional Squash Association (PSA) Squash Championship 2025 concluded on a high note at the Squash Complex, SLAF Base Ratmalana, on 24 October 2025, marking the end of four days of intense and spirited competition held from 17 to 24 October 2025.
This year’s championship was a grand success, attracting over 400 players, both local and international, across multiple categories, making it one of the most vibrant and competitive squash events in the country.
In the Men’s Open segment, Ravindu Laksiri delivered an exceptional performance to claim victory, defeating Shamil Wakeel in a fiercely contested final. Demonstrating remarkable skill and consistency, Ravindu secured the prestigious Air Chief Marshal PH Mendis Memorial Trophy with a decisive 3–1 win.
In the Women’s Open final, Chanithma Sinely showcased outstanding form, skill, and determination to capture the Air Chief Marshal Harry Goonetileke Memorial Trophy, overcoming Ranliya Wood in a hard-fought 3–0 victory.
The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force in collaboration with Sri Lanka Squash, with the support of the Professional Squash Association (PSA).
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Damian Weerasinghe, graced the finals and awards ceremony as the Chief Guest, accompanied by members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior officers, and distinguished invitees.
Also in attendance were the President of Sri Lanka Squash, Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, Secretary Eranga Alwis and members of the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Squash.
The tournament not only celebrated athletic excellence but also reaffirmed the Sri Lanka Air Force’s continued commitment to promoting squash as a sport of national pride and international recognition, while fostering youth development and sporting camaraderie across the region.
