Agriculture, food processing, and tea industry among focus sectors

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host a business interaction with a 13-member delegation from the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce (YPFIC), led by Mr. Kang Jin, Vice Chairman of YPFIC. The session will take place on Thursday, 26 June 2025, at the Chamber’s Board Room from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

The event offers a valuable platform for Sri Lankan businesses to engage with influential representatives from Yunnan across a range of key sectors. These include agriculture and food processing, environmental technology, tea industry, trade and investment promotion, and cultural and international cooperation.

With China representing a market of over 1.4 billion consumers, the strategic advantage for Sri Lanka in deepening trade ties is significant. As the two countries continue negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), forums such as these take on added importance, offering the potential to unlock greater market access and commercial benefit. In parallel, evolving consumer preferences in China, marked by a rising demand for natural, healthy, and high-quality imported products, open new possibilities for Sri Lankan exporters positioned to meet this demand.
