An event to extend best wishes and tribute to Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Speaker of the 9th Parliament, Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, Deputy Speaker, and Hon. Angajan Ramanathan, Deputy Chairperson of Committees, was held recently (09).
This ceremony was organized as per the traditions of Parliament followed at the conclusion of a Parliamentary term.
The event was held under the patronage of the Secretary-General of Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, along with the Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary-General Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, and Assistant Secretary-General, Mr. Hansa Abeyratne, with the participation of department heads and staff members of Parliament.
During the event, Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Speaker of the 9th Parliament expressed his gratitude to the Parliament’s Secretary-General and all staff members for their support throughout his tenure. He also engaged in a cordial conversation with the parliamentary staff and joined in taking a group photograph with them.
Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana’s wife, Mrs. Nelum Walawage, was also present at the occasion. Hon. Ajith Rajapakse, Deputy Speaker, and Hon. Angajan Ramanathan, Deputy Chairperson of Committees, were unable to attend due to unavoidable reasons.
