Air Vice Marshal Roshan Senaka Biyanvila VSV,USP,ndc, psc has been appointed as the new Director General of the Civil Security Department.
AVM Biyanvila received his letter of appointment from Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Ministry last Monday (Aug 14).
Before being appointed as the GD for the Civil Security Department , Air Vice Marshal Biyanvila served as the deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force and was also the Director Administration at Air Force Headquarters from 2020 to 2022.
He served as Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket Board while he was an Air Commodore in 2018 and was Media Spokesperson representing Air force at Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) while he was Group Captain. After being promoted to the rank of Air Vice Marshal, he became Director of Admin and subsequently was appointed as the deputy chief of staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force on 1 January 2023.
AVM Biyanvila was educated at St . Peter’s College Colombo and joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet in the Administration Branch with the 19th intake Officer Cadets course. Apart from the many Military decorations and qualifications, he holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom.
