Sri Lanka qualified for the finals of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup after winning against Pakistan by 1 run in the semi final played between the two sides yesterday.
Sri Lanka Women won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 122 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Sri Lanka it was Harshitha Samarawickrama that set the pace with a top score of 35 runs, while Anushka Sanjeewani scored 26 and Nilakshi de Silva and Hasini Perera scoring 14 and 13 runs respectively.
For the Pakistani girls it was Sandhu who took 3 wickets and became the key wicket-taker for Pakistan. Sadia Iqbal, Nida Dar, and Aiman Anwar took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 122 and taking the match to the wire Sri lanka defended its total of 122 by restricting the Pakistanies to 121 runs, one run short of the target in their alloted 20 overs. In the process the Pakistanies lost 6 wickets with Bismah Maroof top scoring with 42 runs. Nida Dar who was batting weel at one stage and was taking the match off the Sri Lankans scored 26 runs while Muneeba Ali and Omaima Sohail calso contributed to its total with a quick 18 and 10 runs in the chase.
Inoka Ranaweera was Sri Lanka’s key wicket-taker with 2 wickets, while Sugandika Kumari and Kavisha Dilhari bagged one wicket each.
Now, Sri Lanka is all set to take on India in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final which will be played on Saturday the 15th October 2022.
