FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF FULLY – FLEDGED SLAF HOSPITAL COMPLEX AT NARAHENPITA

The laying of foundation stone for a new SLAF Hospital complex at Narahenpita (Kirimandala Mawatha) was held this morning (27 January 2022) under the patronage of Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, State Ministry of National Security and Disaster Management, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd).

According to the vision of Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, progression of a fully-fledged hospital complex was inaugurated in view of expanding the medical facilities to SLAF with the overwhelming assistance by His Excellency the President Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

It is a significant milestone in establishing a fully-fledged hospital complex and the total 12 stories construction will be on progress according to two phases under the purview of Directorate of Civil Engineering. Initial five stories will be completed within next three years under the first phase which will consist of wards, surgical theatres, laboratories, functional clinical areas for Out Patients Department (OPD) and patient examination. The rest of the complex will be completed in the second phase.

The serving members of the Air Force and their family members will have the opportunity to receive treatments from this hospital. Fore mostly, Ex- Servicemen including their family members and members of SLAF fallen war heroes will also be eligible to receive the same facility.

This memorable occasion inaugurated  amidst the blessings of Maha Sanga presided over by Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero, the Deputy Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo and was attended by Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Additional Secretary – Parliament Affairs, Policy and Planning in Ministry of Defence, former Commanders of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of SLAF, Members of the Air Force Board of Management and Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo  along with a cross section of Officers and Airmen representing the Sri Lanka Air Force.
