First female ASP appointed to Special Task Force (STF)

A woman Chief Inspector of Special Task Force (STF) of Police has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) for the first time in the STF history.

Accordingly, N. T. N.  Kumari has been promoted as an ASP of the STF.

In addition, eight Chief Inspectors of the STF were also promoted to the rank of ASP.

These appointments have been made by the Public Service Commission on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defense, Police Department and the Special Task Force basis of their skills as well as service requirements for maintaining national security and maintaining law and order.

The STF said the selections were made from 52 officers and two female officers of the post of Chief Inspector of the Special Task Force, out of which eight officers and a female officer were given promotions.

The promoted ASPs were; D. S. Kulasekara, W. A. P.  Sampath Kumara, I. S. T. Perera, W. D. S. De Silva, K. G. G.  Nishantha, E. A. M.  Dayaratne, K. D. G. C.  Gunaratne and A. P. E. P.  Kularatne.
