The ‘Deepavali Upahara’ ceremony organised by Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery, together with the Rotary Colombo East was held on Deepavali Day at the Nithyakalyani premises, adhering to COVID19 health guidelines.
The ceremony was held to pay tribute to some of the heroes who bolstered the wellbeing of the country during this pandemic period. Accordingly, healthcare heroes such as the Medical Officer of Health – Wellawatta, Dr. Shree Prathapan and his team, Former OIC at Wellawatta Police, Kapila Priyanka Wijemanne and many hygiene related workers who ensure that the city was clean were honoured at this ceremony.

Clean Tech team responsible for Wellawatta area, OIC of Community Police Unit of Wellawatta Police Sub Inspector – Y. N. Heshan accompanied by other police officers and the team from Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery.
Paying tribute to these healthcare heroes who have been on the frontline during COVID 19 to ensure health and hygiene in Wellawatta, A. P. Jayarajah stressed on the importance of all those heroes who have served tirelessly during the pandemic period and reiterated that Wellawatta Nithyakalyani Jewellery annually engages in several social welfare activities such as blood donation, beach cleaning, tree maintenance, development of schools and places of worship and that he hopes to carry out a number of similar social service projects in the future in association with the Rotary Colombo East.
