Sri Lanka is capable of earning foreign exchange amounting to over USD one billion this year, said State Minister of Tea and Rubber Export Promotion, Kanaka Herath.
He said rubber production in the country has gone up in 2021 and therefore it is expected to earn around USD 1.1 billion foreign exchange.
State Minister Herath was participating in an event to present certificates and financial assistance to a group of trainees who had completed the Professional tapper trainning programme organized by the Thuru Sawiya Fund and the Rubber Research Institute.
Rs. 25,000 in financial assistance was granted to each trainee as an incentive along with the certificate.
The State Minister further said that rubber production will be increased within the next year. More lands will be planted with rubber in the future.
