The Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, General Manoj Mukund Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC who is now in Sri Lanka called on the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana last Saturday morning (16 October 2021) at Air Force Headquarters, Colombo.
The Army Chief was received upon arrival by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Vice Marshal MDJ Wasage and was conferred a Guard of Honour by the Colour Wing of the SLAF. After which General Naravane was warmly welcomed to Air Force Headquarters by Air Marshal Pathirana at the entrance and was conducted to the Headquarters lobby where he was introduced to the Deputy Chief of Staff and members of the Air Force Board of Management. A group photograph was taken at the lobby before the Indian Army Chief was conducted to the office of the Commander of the Air Force. The visiting Army Chief was accompanied by Major General Rajeev Thapar, the Major General General Staff, Major General Vikrant Vilas Naik VSM, the Military Assistant to Chief of Army Staff and Colonel Mandeep Singh Dhillon, the Colonel Foreign Division during his visit to Air Force Headquarters.
The visiting Army Chief had a cordial discussion with the Commander on matters of mutual interest where the coincidental fact came out that the Army Chief had a strong connection to the Air Force as his farther had also served in the Indian Air Force. After which, official plaques were exchanged to mark the historical occasion. General Naravane also made a note in the visitors’ book before departing Air Force Headquarters.
