The Second Phase of construction of 100 Rural Townships programme in the country will be inaugurated in the Velani DS Division in the Jaffna District under the auspices of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on July 31.
Fisheries Minister, Douglas Devananda said that following the inauguration of the Second Phase of the Rural City Construction programme, the Prime Minister will unveil the Pinnacle of the Nawakkuli Raja Maha Viharaya and lay the foundation stone for the construction of new ‘Sangawasa’ Complex for Bhikkus at the Tissa Maha Viharaya at KKS.
The ceremony to hand over 182 title deeds for houses, constructed by the Re-Settlement Ministry and inauguration of construction work of another 32 new houses under the housing programme, is scheduled to take place on July 31.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in Hindu religious observances at the Nallur, Ninathivu Kovils and the Naga Viharaya temple on August 1. Prime Minister Rajapaksa is also scheduled to inaugurate construction work of two water projects in the Nainativu and Kalayadi areas.
