Smoke still coming off its foredeck, the 2,700 teu X-Press Pearl, a Ship that is said to be not even 4 months old have began to sink today as seen in the pictures taken from a SLAF Helicopter. Its off the west course of Sri Lanka.
Salvors had managed to attach a tow to the ship, and had commenced to tow the fire-ravaged boxships to deeper waters today. However, with the engine room flooded, the stern of the ship started to sink and towing efforts had been called off.
