Youth and Sports Minister, Namal Rajapaksa visited imprisoned former parliamentarian, Ranjan Ramanayake at the Angunakolapelessa Prison on Friday, April 16, said Prisons Commissioner (Administration) Spokesman, Chandana Ekanayake.
He further said the Minister had left the Angunakolapelessa Prison after talking to Ranjan Ramanayake for about half an hour.
Former parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who was convicted of contempt of court, has been sentenced by the Supreme Court to four years imprisonment with hard labor and is currently being held in the E ward of the Angunakolapelessa Prison.
Ranjan Ramanayake lost his parliamentary seat due to the conviction and subsequent imprisonment.
