On March 31, 2021, Ambassador Santhush Woonjin JEONG hosted a celebration at the Ambassador’s residence to celebrate the staff members of the Embassy. On March 27, 2021, the Korean Embassy participated in the Diplomatic Cricket tournament held at the Chandra De Silva grounds in Obeysekarapura.
The event was a fun filled day for spectators as well as the players who were staff members of diplomatic missions.
- G. V. Sameera from the Korean Embassy spearheaded the South Asian team as captain. The South Asian team including staff members – P. D. S Fernando, W. D. J. Silva and P. K. Sugath of the Korean Embassy clinched the trophy for the first runner-up in the entire tournament.
On this occasion, Ambassador Santhush organised a gathering at the residence for all staff members to celebrate this wonderful victory. He expressed his delight that the staff members of the Korean Embassy displayed such excellent sportsmanship and represented Korea among the Asian countries in the tournament.
Team South Asia played exceptionally well winning four out of five matches, and it was a display of collective excellence.
Ambassador Santhush Woonjin Jeong expressed his thankfulness to all staff members of the Korean Embassy including the security and administrative workers for their hard work and tireless efforts during the covid-19 pandemic.
He commended their dedicated endeavours to provide safety for the Embassy. The Ambassador stated that he appreciated the staff members who won the runner-up trophy and contributed to fostering friendly Korea-Sri Lanka ties.
