Election must be held to elect a new Parliament, says Former President

Former President, Maithripala Sirisena.

It is important to follow the guidelines of the Health Officials and conduct the General Election to elect a new Parliament, says Former President, Maithripala Sirisena.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, May 18 in Colombo, Maithripala Sirisena said the stance of the SLFP is the country cannot move forward in the absence of a Parliament. He also said that the President of the country must always have support from Parliament.

The Former President said delaying the appointment of a new Parliament not only poses a negative impact on the country’s economy but also threatens the development of the nation.

He said the Sri Lanka Freedom Party would contest the General Election by reaching certain agreements as it did before for the 2019 Presidential Election.
