Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Petroleum Corporation to send four fuel transport trains to four provinces. Accordingly, the fuel trains will be sent to Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Peradeniya and Katunayake from Kolonnawa.
The Minister said that this decision had been taken to ensure that there is no fuel shortage in the country and assured the general public not to have any undue fear as there is no shortage of fuel in the country.
Issuing a statement, the Director-General of the Government Information Department, Nalaka Kaluwewa said that the CPC Chairman, Sumith Wijesinghe has assured that the fuel supply is being done without any hindrance or shortage as an essential service.
He had said that as there are ample stocks of fuel, there is no need to rush to fuel stations the moment the curfew is lifted and stay in long queues for fuel.
During the curfew, measures have been taken to operate 480 fuel stations covering every police division to enable the operations of the essential services.
