A circular has been issued by leading supermarkets in Sri Lanka commenting on the rules and regulations for shoppers to avoid panic buying during this virus period.
In the circular, it mentioned that shoppers should take precautionary measures such as wearing masks and standing at a distance of 1 meter from each other. And shoppers should queue outside before entering the supermarket.
It also stated only 10-20 minutes of shopping will be allowed per person and to use debt and credit cards to avoid money transactions.
These steps were taken to avoid the rush and the essentials to be rationed out evenly. The measures were also taken to prevent the spread of the virus and stabilize the ongoing situation in the country.
