The CID had commenced an investigation on November 27th regarding the alleged abduction and detention of an employee of the Swiss Embassy, Police Media Spokesman SSP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The Police Headquarters denied allegations claiming its involvement in the said incident.
In a statement, SSP Ruwan Gunasekara of the Police Media Division said that the police had sought further information from the Swiss Embassy and accordingly, the embassy had provided certain information yesterday with regard to the incident.
It further said that two police teams, one from the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) and another from the CCTV division have been assigned to support the CID investigations.
The unidentified group that had abducted the female employee of the embassy had reportedly threatened her claiming that they were from the CID but the police in its statement said that it was a ploy by the group to mislead the investigations. However, the Police Spokesman added that the CID is currently investigating the incident and those responsible would be apprehended soon.
