Hon. Member of Parliament Rohini Kumari Kaviratne, Chairperson of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Education and Human Resources Development and the Sub-Committee on Education states that steps will be taken to eliminate salary anomalies in the post of Non- formal Project Assistant of the Ministry of Education.
The sub – committee chairperson added that the Gazette notification would be issued soon on above decision. Commenting further, she said arriving at a solution to this problem which had been in existence for over 20 years was highlighted as a victory of the sub- committee.
Accordingly, it was also decided to change the title of the post Non-formal Project Assistant of the Education sector to Non-formal Project Officer. The progress of the Teacher Advisory Service was also taken into discussion at the sub-committee. The Ministry informed the Sub -committee that the promotional procedure pertaining to these posts has been prepared and forwarded to the Public Service Commission.
The sub – committee chair further stated that the present salary anomalies of officers and principals who have been recruited to the administrative service on the basis of supernumerary employees will be removed in the future. Hon. Member of Parliament M. Very Kumar was also in attendance at the committee meeting held.
The committee was conducted with the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Salaries Commission, the Directorate of Establishments and the Public Service Commission.
