The Elections Commission has accepted all 35 nominations submitted for the presidential election.
Two objections submitted to the Elections Commission regarding the nominations had been rejected by the Commission.
The accepting of nominations for the upcoming Presidential Election commenced at 9 am this morning and concluded at 11 am at the Elections Commission, Rajagiriya this morning (07).
Out of the 41 persons who had made their deposits for the Presidential Election, six of them including Chamal Rajapaksa and Kumara Welgama, did not submit their nominations this morning.
The most prominent candidates among the 35 candidates vying for the presidency are Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna), Anura Kumara Dissanayake (National People’s Power), Sajith Premadasa (New Democratic Front) and Mahesh Senanayake (National People’s Party).
